Spotlight On: Atlantic Beach, North Carolina!

We know that when you think of taking a fall vacation the beach isn’t always the first place that comes to mind. This week on the blog we’re going to change that thought! We are flipping the script and featuring the Atlantic Beach Resort in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina just as peak season ends. Join us as we show you just why this spot makes a great year-round vacation destination.

The town of Atlantic Beach is located on the Bogue Banks of North Carolina and provides travelers with a quiet beach side community to relax and enjoy nearby attractions. The area is known for its small resort towns (including Emerald Isle, Morehead City, Beaufort and Harper’s Island) with Atlantic Beach being the oldest of the five. While the beaches of each town are pristine and offer major appeal to all travelers, Atlantic Beach and its neighbors each provide a unique chance to explore rich naval and pirate history, as well as local culture. And just in case that’s not enough to get you there in the off season, the area has another feature that keeps visitors coming back year after year – their seafood!

You can enjoy these delicacies year-round but one of the best times to do so is at the Annual North Carolina Seafood Festival – held each fall. This year the event is in its 31st year and will be held from October 5th-7th. The Seafood Festival is a non-profit organization of Carteret county citizens and business people that work with the town of Morehead City to create this yearly event. Their goals are to promote a positive social and economic impact on the seafood industry in North Carolina, educate the public about the importance of seafood and what it means for the state’s economy, boost tourism and much more! Each year the event takes place in Morehead City, just a short drive from Atlantic Beach. Get your fill of live music, enjoying cooking demos by local Chefs and of course – plenty of seafood! The Seafood Festival offers visitors the chance to experience some local flavor all while supporting a great cause.

And though the Seafood Festival is one of the larger fall attractions, Atlantic Beach and the surrounding areas always have plenty going on! A few of our favorites are listed below:

  • Carteret County Arts & Crafts fall show. Browse and shop the work of local artists and craftsmen.
  • Beaufort’s Brewin’ Craft Beer Festival. Held this year on September 27th and 29th, this two-day festival features a variety of beer seminars, luncheons, dinners, and more!
  • The Annual Carolina Kite Festival. In its 30th year, the Annual Carolina Kite Fest is being held on October 28th and 29th. This event is free and allows any participants to grab their kite and join in to witness a unique view!

While we’ve got you thinking about your fall vacation, you’re going to need a place to stay during your travels! The Atlantic Beach Resort offers guests an abundance of amenities and activities to keep guests comfortable and busy during their stay. Enjoy sport courts, swimming pools, miniature golf, resort planned activities, and of course, beach access. With different style units available there’s something to fit all travelers! One, two and three-bedroom rentals are equipped with large living areas, full kitchens and quiet bedrooms.

As peak beach season comes to a close, we hope we gave you plenty of reasons to help you consider making Atlantic Beach the destination for your fall getaway!
